My version of being the very best in Pokemon Go
I love Pokemon. And, I used to get crap for liking it. Then, Pokemon Go showed up and every fan that had to “grow up” came out of the woodwork. It was great to see that after all this time people still love the world of Pokemon.
As a child of the 90s I love Pokemon now as much as I did back then. I still have my Pokemon card collection and the Boulder Badge I got for participating in the Pokemon TGC League.
Sadly, my original copy of Pokemon Gold is gone. I still have my copy of Heartgold. And, at one point I had Black 2; the triple Pokemon and battle turnover was a bit too much for my mind.
But, Pokemon Go is a totally different experience from the games or card game. Pokemon Go is not better or worse just a different take on the Pokemon world. For me, the only true plus about this version of the world is that it can be accessed anywhere (the game is currently available on Earth).
The Craze
When the game came out, surprisingly, I didn’t download it. Honestly, I didn’t even know it existed until a coworker had noticed my Pokemon love and told me about it. I know, some fan right?
Once I saw how many people were playing and roaming the streets at all hours to catch them, I still hesitated about getting the game. The bugs, Grimer glitches, and server issues kept me away.
But, then I gave into the massive trend and downloaded the game.
My Journey
To say it was a bit rough at first would be an understatement.
I was out of shape.
And, trying new things and going to new places by myself just wasn’t in my programing.
Pokemon Go forced me to change both on my quest to be the very best.
Every few weeks I will go down to my major Pokemon Go hotspot and join the hundreds of others in search for fake digital creatures. Just the other day I grabbed my longboard (it had been about a year) to go for a ride to a new park I discovered.
Thus far I have logged 125km in the game according to my glitchy GPS. I am still out of shape but my stamina and muscle mass have increased. So, I got that going for me.
I am getting out in the world. I am finding any excuse to just go walking around. I want to exercise…to hatch my 5k and 10k eggs. And, it feels good to have this change in mindset and more active lifestyle.
Who would have ever thought that the very thing that got me talking to other people as a child would be the same thing that would get me back out there now.
